Edgar Cayce and the Skeptic

Kenneth Paul Johnson’s use of open mindedness should be an example to all thinkers, especially people who want to refute other people’s ideas. I especially admired how he had the insight to also think about what type of role Edgar Cayce played for his followers and the possible psychological aspects the man had. Often times, critical thinking is done one-sided, or narrow-minded. Instead of just denouncing Cayce’s paranormal abilities, Johnson opens his mind enough to explore Cayce’s side.

With open mindedness, people are able to discover the most about a certain subject or thing. People that are narrow-minded and biased towards something will never be able to see the bigger picture. It’s like someone focusing their sight on a particular object, instead of using their peripherals. I think all thinkers should learn to tread between the sides of the believer and the skeptic.
